One of the last of Cuba's great Afro-Cuban pianists, Ruben Gonzalez had been a household name in Cuba for nearly 50 years, performing with many different bands, before finding world-wide fame when he appeared on the Ry Cooder produced 1996 album 'Buena Vista Social Club'.
