A master of American popular song, Michael Feinstein turns to children's music for Pure Imagination and the result should please children and adults alike. The album includes story songs ("Ferdinand the Bull") and "message" songs ("Aren't You Glad You're You"), as well as favorites from films, such as the title track (from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and a medley from Disney's Alice in Wonderland. This album is about what you'd expect from Feinstein, including irrepressible cheer, pleasant singing (if a little strained toward the top of his range), a guest appearance from Rosemary Clooney, and impeccable song selection.
