The winners of the 2002 reality TV show POP STARS: THE RIVALS--the show adopteda new twist on the Popstars theme, picking opposing boy and girl bands to battleit out in the U.K. charts--Girls Aloud triumphed when the single "Sound Of TheUnderground" b/w "Stay Another Day" topped the charts. Their cover version ofthe Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You', commissioned by the Children In Needcharity, also topped the U.K. charts in December 2004.
