All About Jazz called Colin Cannon's new album "one of the most charismatic releases in recent years". Intermission (farewell), released under Two For The Show Media, marks a goodbye to the Colin Cannon Quartet (a band of seven-plus years) and a hello to something new. The album features Manami Morita (piano, Fender Rhodes, melodica), Zak Croxall (bass), Thomas Hartman (drums) and Cannon (guitar, ukulele, vocals, sound effects). With orchestral compositions and arrangements incorporating more than 20 musicians and vocalists, and an array of soundscapes and various audio samples from the 1950s, the album is significantly different than Cannon’s previous two, expanding upon the audaciousness and reach that marked the artist’s previous work.
