Anne Buckle

It's not time but love that heals all wounds. Growing up in Fayetteville, Georgia, I always dreamed of moving to Nashville to be a country music artist. Little did I know that the dream would actually be a reality one day, and that songwriting would become my deepest passion. My name is Anne Buckle, and I'm a singer, songwriter, and fiddle player. In case you were wondering, yes, Buckle is my real last name. (I never got that question until I moved to Nashville, and it tends to be a popular conversation-starter here!) Though I was born in Georgia, I've always felt like a Tennessee girl at heart. My family is from the hills of northeast Tennessee, near Bristol. As a kid, I spent my summers there playing music with them, which is how my love for music came about. That, or it's just in my blood. My great, great uncle was A.P. Carter of the Carter Family, and June Carter Cash was my grandmother's first cousin. I was so fortunate to get to know both June and Johnny Cash and to get to play fiddle for them on a few occasions. When I was 15, I recorded an album of fiddle tunes and Carter Family songs at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol, TN, which is where the Carter Family first recorded in 1927. My two late uncles, Mike and Bugs Cornett owned the studio for most of the 1990s, and when I visited it seemed like the most magical place. Bugs gave me my first fiddle at age 6, so I owe him all the credit for getting me into music. My parents are school teachers, and they always encouraged me to go to college, which I did. I'm really thankful for the time I spent exploring the world and learning who I am during those years, and I think a lot of those experiences prepared me to chase this crazy dream. Fiddle is my main instrument, but I also try to play some guitar and mandolin, and sometimes piano. My music is somewhere in the middle of Americana, country, folk, bluegrass, and indie pop. Not really sure what genre that would be... I tend to just let the song be what it wants to be. Writing songs liberates me, and it helps me process whatever it is I'm going through. I guess it kind of gives meaning to things for me as well, and I hope that it does the same for listeners. Thanks so much for taking time to read a little about me. If you want to know more, feel free to leave a message on the contact page! I hope to get to meet you one day soon! -Anne
