Awe
I first started DJing at the Limelight, London in 1987. I had the basement once a week while Paul Oakenfold ran the main room. The basement was always a lot busier than the main room with me and Ben Small from Groove records spinning 70s breakbeats, funk and hip-hop. I also played at a couple rare groove warehouse jams - a precursor to the raves that happened a couple of years later. About this time I started DJing for several traveler sound systems including Circus normal and Wango Rilies , just playing rock, hip hop, dub, and soul in-between the bands, but very soon started slipping in the odd dance record. I remember getting Acid tracks by Phuture on import the day it came out from Groove records and started playing it to the biker/traveler types at the traveler parties including the traveler field at Glastonbury festival
