Rapper, actor, model, activist and music entrepreneur Whosane, born Abdi Hussein in Brooklyn, New York, has been active in the music industry for 10+ years as an MC, producer and music marketer. Just before a 30 city North American tour with Mos Def, Jay Electronica and Erykah Badu in the summer of 2009, Whosane desired to further challenge himself as an artist and break into a new market, expanding his opportunity to collaborate with talented musicians across the globe. In an effort to bridge the musical gap between America and Africa (specifically targeting the R&B/Hip-Hop scene), Whosane relocated to South Africa and immediately gained critical attention in Cape Town and beyond. He joined forces with MC Jimmy Flexx and talented vocalist Nonku to form the group Pangaea, and released his solo album Prelude to Black Diamond (Pangaea Music/Breeze Projects, available on Itunes) in September 2009 featuring Pangaea.\r \r Whosane has collaborated with artists such as Chali 2na, Mos Def, Zaki Ibrahim, Jean Grae, HHP, Tumi, Zubz, Curren$y and Goapele, in addition to working with producers such as Raaphael Saadiq, Bobby Ozuna, Dj Preservation, Oh No, G Koop, Don Juan, Draztik, and PH. Most recently, Whosane was featured on Ski Beatz’s highly anticipated 24 Hour Karate School mix tape.
