Soul singer Cody grew up singing at rodeos and in gospel churches in Arkansas. He was inspired as an artist by Dolly Parton's greatest hits and is also influenced by James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Elvis. He believes that "in a past life he was an old black woman," which feeds his affinity for soul music. He enjoys playing tennis and rock climbing.
